Every day, new lives begin and delicate hearts start to beat, each one deserving of protection, love, and a chance at life. As a physician, I’ve spent my career witnessing the miracle of life in the womb. From the earliest weeks of pregnancy, we can see the unmistakable signs of a unique human being growing and developing. My message is simple: A patient is a person, no matter how small.

But it’s not enough to believe this truth in our hearts. We are called to act. The preborn cannot speak for themselves, but we can. And we must.

Start Local, Think Eternal

Advocating for the preborn doesn’t always begin with politics or protests. It often starts with compassion and connection in your own backyard. One of the most powerful ways to support life is by getting involved with a local pregnancy resource center. These centers are on the front lines, offering practical resources and emotional support to girls, women, and men facing unplanned pregnancies. Every role matters, from greeting clients at the front desk and organizing baby clothes to helping with social media outreach and counseling pregnant mothers.

Financial support is also vital. Many of these centers operate on limited budgets, yet they provide ultrasounds, counseling, parenting classes, and supplies free of charge. If you’re able, consider becoming a monthly donor or organizing a church drive to collect diapers and baby formula. I’ve seen firsthand how one caring voice at the right moment can help a woman choose life for her child.

Educate, Advocate, and Speak Up

Understanding the science of life in the womb changes hearts. When people realize that a baby’s heart is already beating 22 days into gestation, or that they can respond to touch and light before most women even feel them move, it reframes the conversation. This is why education is one of the strongest tools we have. Share this information in conversations, on social media, in small groups, and in schools. Invite others to learn about fetal development, the impact of abortion, and the hope-filled alternative of adoption.

Write to your local representatives. Laws can shape culture, and your voice matters. Politicians respond to their constituents, especially when they hear from people who speak with clarity, kindness, and conviction. If you’re not sure what to say, start by sharing your personal story or why you care about protecting life.

Get involved with pro-life events in your area. By participating in a local walk for life, attending a prayer vigil outside a clinic, or showing up at a school board meeting to advocate for life-affirming education, you make a statement with your presence. And always, always approach these opportunities with humility and grace.

Use the Power of Your Church

The Church should be the safest place for a woman facing an unplanned pregnancy. Talk with your pastor or church leaders about forming a life team, partnering with a local pregnancy center, or hosting a baby shower for a woman who chose life. Teach young people about the sanctity of life and the beauty of how God designed reproduction.

If you’re a church leader, preach on the value of every human life from the pulpit. Use your influence to shape a culture of life, love, and responsibility within your congregation. Equip your members to serve not only with their words but with their actions.
