There is no greater testament to God’s creativity and love than the miracle of human life. As a physician, I’ve spent my career caring for women and their unborn children, watching the tiniest flickers of life on ultrasound screens, listening to little heartbeats, and witnessing the first breaths of newborns. As a Christian, I’ve come to see these moments as more than medical events. They are glimpses into the mind of a Creator who chose to weave life’s beginnings within the most intimate and sacred of spaces: the womb.

God’s Hands at Work in the Womb

From the very moment of conception, when a unique combination of DNA comes together in the first cell of a pregnancy, a new human life begins. This isn’t simply biology in motion, but a divine act of creation. Scripture makes this truth clear. In Psalm 139, we are reminded that God knits us together in our mother’s womb. Jeremiah tells us that God knew him before he was formed. These are not metaphors. They are spiritual realities backed by scientific fact.

At the moment of fertilization, a genetically complete human being is formed. Nothing else needs to be added. That tiny zygote is already a boy or a girl, already carrying inherited traits from both parents. This is not just potential life—it is life. It’s a patient, a person, no matter how small.

Throughout pregnancy, the development of the baby follows an intricate, ordered design that reflects the wisdom of the One who authored life. Within 21 days, the heart begins to beat. By eight weeks, all major organs are present. By the end of the first trimester, the baby can yawn, stretch, and respond to touch. None of this happens by chance. It is God’s work, moment by moment, cell by cell.

The Maternal Body: A Sanctuary of Life

God didn’t just design the baby. He also designed the mother’s body to be the perfect place to nurture that life. The womb, though a temporary home, is a sanctuary and a place of protection, nourishment, and growth.

Pregnancy is often spoken about in secular terms—symptoms, due dates, risks. But when we look closer, we see a deeper reality. Hormones shift, organs rearrange, and blood supply increases, all to support the needs of another human being. Even the placenta, sometimes overlooked, is a marvel of design. It serves as the lifeline between mother and child, filtering nutrients and oxygen while shielding the baby from harm.

Labor and birth, though intense, are not accidents of evolution. They are carefully calibrated processes with a purpose. Birth invites a woman into one of the most profound acts of love and sacrifice, echoing Christ Himself. In bringing forth life, a mother mirrors the Creator’s own heart.

Choosing Life: A Sacred Responsibility

In a world that often treats pre-born life as expendable, it’s vital that we remember who we are and whose we are. Every human being is made in the image of God, from the first spark of life. As believers, we are called to protect that image wherever it is found.

I’ve had the privilege of working with courageous women who, moved by the still, small voice within, have changed their minds after taking the abortion pill. Through abortion pill reversal, we’ve seen lives saved and hope restored. Science and faith are not at odds here. They are allies in the defense of life.

Every heartbeat matters. Every soul is seen by God. And every one of us is called to push back with love and truth against a culture that seeks to cheapen and discard the miracle of life.

Whether you are a mother, a medical professional, a pastor, or simply someone who cares, you have a role in standing for life. Knowledge is powerful; when combined with compassion and truth, it can save lives.
